IT Sector's JOB woes............................

We 've read somewhere that six lakh IT Professionals are likely to lose their JOB's in the next Two to Three Years. But our sons are working in the IT industry. We are very concerned about them losing their Jobs due to the spate of retrechmentin the IT industry.Any suggestions to help them consolidate their position? We 're very Worried because both of them are Married and have School going Kids.

A. While Automation and Emerging technology does render a Large No of Jobs Superfluous in the tech industry.Techies who are Ready to up-skill themselves with the Latest tech skills , stay relevant. As business and startups change innovative solutions , evolving technology and new age skill sets such as natural Language Processing ( Which Enables Computers to understand Human speech quickly and Accurately), Swift, Tableau etc grow in Demand and Fetch Marketing Beating rates.

You may also be surprised to know  that despite all this talk to load-shedding and slow down in IT industry, there is , in fact, real Shortage  of good data analysts, Machine, Learning and Artificial Intelligence UX, UI ( user experience, user interface) designers, cyber Security and product developers.

Moreover , another excellent development is the surge in freelancer roles in data mining, data visualization, digital marketing and social media. And what's wonderful is the freelancing in these areas is well paying and makes for better work - life balance.

The thing to do is to look at the opportunities and aggressively start preparing for them instead of panicking. It would help to focus on specific areas like Google Digital Marketing , Data Science, Analytics, Android and iOS app development . These are just a few Pointers.

I can understand  your anxiety as parents , but your sons being in thick of IT industry would be more aware of the developments demands of their current employers in particular as well as  those of the broader industry . A time of churn  is always a time of great opportunity. !
